Today temps hit 90, I went down to WCR with my nephew Eric. We took a walk around the property when we first arrived, we found several turtles roaming around, we had both Ornate box turtles and Three Toad Box Turltes.

We also had a flock of around 8 wood ducks fly over us and I spotted a few wood thrushes in the woods. Northern Parulas have found there way to our place and there songs are all around. After our walk, I mowed the trails, the grass is rapidly growing with the warm temps and the spring rains. We then headed down to the creek with the canoe and paddled upstream 1.25 miles, it was a great trip and Eric really enjoyed it, we had an otter jump out right beside us and had a full grown snapping turtle tumble down the 20ft bank to the water right in front of us. On the trip we had several birds including blue-grey gnatcatchers, lousiana waterthrushes, ruby-crowned kinglets, wood ducks, great blue herons and the rest of the usual suspects.

We finished our float and had lunch, after lunch we went for a swim to get away from the heat, the water felt great, I wish I had spent the whole hot day in the river.
We found a boulder that had water deep enough to jump off of and Eric and I had a few jumps.

After swimming we put together my new shooting bench and then we did some target shooting, alltogether a great day, though I am now burnt and parched!
