Great Late Winter Saturday

I awoke this morning @ 5:30 to head down to WCR, I recently bought a garden tractor off of craigslist and I rented a trailer so I was headed down to drop off the tractor plus get a few other tasks done. Temps were around 35 in the morning but got up to the high 50s so it was a great day to work, it was also sunny which made it feel all the warmer. When I arrived, I decided to walk the property before I started to make a bunch of noise. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary just the regular, titmice, robins, cardinals, a bunch of woodpeckers (I did see at least one and maybe two sapsuckers, I haven't seen them for some time) and squirrels. The creek was up a little and the water a little cloudy, here is a picture at the Duckbill Falls.

After my walk, I decided to unload the tractor then head down to cut more firewood. I have plans to spend every weekend day out there that I can. Hopefully a lot of camping will go along with that, I have been frantically cutting firewood now so that later I don't have to fight through the growth in the heat, ticks and poison ivy to get the wood. The tractor has been a huge help, last weekend, I was the tractor and loaded and hauled all the wood by hand. I still had to haul the wood out of the woods, around 75 meters but the tractor did the rest:

In the last two weekends, I think I have a full cord of wood for camping, I am still not sure it is enough, so I will probably cut a cart or two every weekend for good measure.

After cutting wood, I broke for lunch, I ate at my new picnic table for the first time. My back was aching from all the wood hauling and I was thinking that I needed to lay down, then I remembered that I brought my new MADE IN THE USA hammock I just bought from Nags Head Hammocks. I found a good spot right on the bank of the creek. I had to clear a thorny mess but I got the hammock up.
I rested for awhile (10 mins) then headed back to work. I hauled a couple fo 2"x10'x10' boards to the little creek to make a bridge so that I don't hurt the moss and rocks. While down there I found a frog, I had seen one here a couple of weeks ago w/ Jenn but I couldn't ID it. I was able to get a pic and ID the sucker, It was a small Blanchard's Cricket Frog. No telling how many of these guys I used for bait over the years, for some reason knowing their name, I don't think I could do that again.
Can you find him?

After my frog adventure, I decided to mow the camp area. I then packed up everything and headed down to the hammock. I brought two beers with me today and about fell asleep as I listened to the water and enjoyed the beautiful day for an hour or so. I then headed back home, I can't wait to return.

You have definitely cut a LOT of wood!!! No wonder your back hurt.

I love the pic of you on your new tractor.
