Caves Branch zip lining and cave tubing

Our Monday (Oct 20) activities brought a couple new adventures to us all. Randy and I took my mom and lil sis and the Cartwrights to Caves Branch, adventure capital of Belize. It was a "short" drive to central Belize in the midst if the Maya Mountains. The first activity was to zip line through the rainforest. The course consisted of 10 lines of varying lengths and steepness. It was the first time for everyone but Randy's brother. My mom and Randy's parents did great. It was the experience of a lifetime!

The Cartwrights: Sharon, Jenny, Randy Sr, and Brent are ready to go!

After the zip lining, we headed out on a short hike, tubes in tow, to the beginning of the river section for cave tubing. It was beautiful, with a cliff rising above the crystal clear waters of the Caves Branch River. Unfortunately for now I have no pictures to add since I didn't feel comfortable carting my camera through this part. Hopefully I will get some pics from others and add them soon though. The trip involved tubing through a section of a cave linked in 2 groups (feet under shoulders of the person in front of you) and the guides led us through the cave, pointing out the interesting geological wonders along the way. It ws pretty darn cool.

After the cave, we were allowed to separate and float the remainder of the way to the trail on our own. It was amazingly similar to floating down an Ozark stream, beautiful water with dramatic bluffs as the backdrop.

We ended up getting back to Hamanasi 2 hrs later than expected and Randy and I were 1.5 hrs late to meet the minister that night. It was worth it though!!!
