Voyaguers National Park Trip
Jenn and I packed up our touring kayaks and headed to the border of MN and Canada for a multi-day kayaking and camping trip through Voyaguers National Park. We intended on setting sail on Monday morning but 30+ mph winds kept us off the water. For a brief moment I put on to see how the water would be, Rainy lake had 3 foot swells and it just didn't seem like it would be much fun so we stayed in International Falls in a hotel. That night thunderstorms ran through and didn't stop raining until mid day on Tuesday so we set out. The winds were around 20mph so we took off for a short 5 mile jaunt to the nearest campsite and set up for the night. The camp site was really nice and the views were great. We left early the next day and set out for our next camp site, after 4 hours of paddling we found a nice spot to camp overlooking our own little bay, the night was the quitest I have ever heard. The only sounds you could hear were the occasional loon, barred owl or ruffed grouse in the night, not even a cricket was making a sound. We intended on staying the next night at a different campsite but the weather radio called for thunderstorms that evening through Friday morning so we packed up and paddled back to the truck in the drizzle and go underway for the 11 hour drive back home. The trip was great except for the unseasonably cold weather and the constant threat of rain. The scenery was great and I fully intend on going back as soon as I can get a group together.

Too bad you ran into so much rain on your trip. Looks like a great place to visit.
